Salary: $60,234.00 - $76,798.00 Annually

This is a full-time, professional position with the City's Public Works Department. An individual in this position manages, and coordinates the Capital Improvements Program (CIP) activities and other similar projects

Examples of Work

  • Work with consultants, contractors, and others involved in the planning, preliminary design, design development bidding, permitting, construction, final occupancy, project closeout, and warranty phase of the City's Public Safety, Drainage, Transportation, Parks, City Facilities, Water, and Wastewater capital and related projects;
  • Manage CIP and similar projects from project inception through completion; adjust and manage project budgets as necessary due to changing priorities, budget limitations, escalating construction costs, project scope changes, and funding from outside sources;
  • Coordinate and manage the selection of architectural and engineering consultants. Oversee architectural/engineering design and construction document development with other City departments, outside agencies, utility companies, citizens, and consultants;
  • Award contracts for project bidding; coordinate land acquisition with the Legal Department; and prepare permit applications for construction phases;
  • Prepare monthly project reports and grant requests from federal and state agencies;
  • Provide information to external customers regarding the overall capital improvement and operational programs; respond and resolve inquiries; and attend community meetings;
  • Rank project merits and priorities, cost estimates, and select projects within limits of available funds to establish multi-year schedule with the Assistant and/or Public Works Director;
  • Coordinate with the Finance Department on the multi-year CIP budget, including project programming, scoping, and estimating;
  • Perform other related duties as assigned;
  • Subject to 24 hour recall.

Education, Experience, or Certification

A Bachelor's Degree in Construction, Engineering, Planning or a closely related field and a minimum of four years of experience in Construction Project Management, Community Planning, Project Development or closely related field required
