The Lake Region Lakes Management District (LRLMD) is an independent special taxing district established in 1919 to protect water quality, provide safe and convenient navigation, construct launching basins, control lake pests, construct and maintain navigation and drainage canals, aid in flood control and lake level management, and all other things necessary and proper for the general convenience and safety of those using the lakes and canals.
The LRLMD Office is in Winter Haven and operations include areas within the City of Winter Haven and Lake Alfred, Florida. The LRLMD is governed by three Commissioners, elected by the voters within the District’s boundaries.
The District Manager reports to the LRLMD Board and serves as the administrative head of the District, providing direction and general management for the administration and oversight of the agency’s affairs and operations. The position is expected to exercise considerable independent professional expertise and judgment in solving problems through the application of LRLMD financial & administrative policies and practices.
The Lake Region Lakes Management District seeks an ethical, decisive, strategic, transparent, and values-driven servant leader possessing excellent communication and emotional intelligence skills to help achieve operational and policy goals as its next District Manager.
The District Manager position requires a bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred) from an accredited college or university in public or business administration, civil engineering, or related field coupled with a minimum of four (4) years’ supervisory experience. Candidates with city/county public works, stormwater/drainage and/or lakes & streams management, parks & recreation, conservation, special district administration, construction, and/or agriculture backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with a policy board, have the demonstrated ability to lead a special district in its programs, projects, and services, coupled with the financial vision, skill, and ability to successfully manage a tax-supported public agency.
The LMLRD offers a competitive starting salary range of $140,000 - $160,000 depending on qualifications and experience. Residency is not required; however, ideally the District Manager will reside within the Greater Winter Haven area for ease of access to district operations.
