SUMMARY OF JOB
The Public Works/Utilities Director is responsible for the planning, administration, financial management, and overseeing the activities, projects, and operations of the Department, including but not limited to Water, Sanitation, Storm Water, Street Maintenance, Electric Services, Vehicles and Equipment Maintenance, Facilities Maintenance, Parks and Landscape Maintenance. This position reports directly to the City Manager and is a valued member of the City’s Executive Team.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Business or Public Administration, Professional Civil Engineering, or a related field required.
6 years of progressive experience in a Public Works Department, including supervisory
experience.
Class B Distribution License or greater issued by the Texas Commission on Environmental
Quality; or the ability to obtain within 1 year of employment.
Class B Wastewater Treatment License or greater issued by the Texas Commission on
Environmental Quality; or the ability to obtain within 1 year of employment.
Valid Class C Texas Driver License
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s degree preferred. At least 8 years of progressive experience involving the design, construction, maintenance and operation of a variety of public works related functions required, including at least four years in a supervisory role. Electric Services Provider is a plus. Municipal development experience in a reasonable growth environment is highly desirable. Candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience will be taken into consideration.
SALARY RANGE
$80,000 - $90,000 annually
