Description

Salary: $60,234.00 - $76,798.00 Annually 

This is a mid-level officials and manager, full-time position in the City's Public Works Department. An individual in this position is responsible for managing, directing and coordinating the activities of the Streets, Drainage and Traffic Control Division.

Examples of Work

  • Develop, plan, and implement the Division's goals and objectives; recommend, administer and implement policies and procedures;
  • Direct, oversee, and participate in the development of the Division's work plan; assign work activities, projects, and programs; monitor work flow; review and evaluate work products, methods, and procedures;
  • Review and approve recommended changes and/or improvements to traffic operations. Monitor and manage franchised utility operations and maintenance operations in rights-of-way. Manage the City's street sweeping, sidewalk replacement, mud jacking, and mosquito spraying programs;
  • Prepare and manage Division budget. Ensure in-house compliance with Stormwater Management Program;
  • Prepare and give presentations to City Council and other City departments;
  • Manage administrative operations for Community Service Program; Coordinate local governmental agreements (Fort Bend County Community Corrections and Fort Bend County);
  • Serve as a part of the Emergency Management Team and respond to natural disasters and other emergency operations;
  • Ensure that all materials and equipment are installed according to specifications and contractual requirements;
  • Provide written and verbal correspondence to citizens, homeowners associations, property management companies, developers, and contractors;
  • Perform other related duties as assigned;
  • Subject to 24 hour recall. 

Education, Experience, or Certification

  • A Bachelor's Degree in a related field and five years relevant professional experience; or an Associate's Degree in a related field and seven years relevant professional experience; or a High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) Certificate and nine years relevant professional experience
