Fauquier County Government is currently seeking qualified and enthusiastic candidates for the position of Assistant Director of Environmental Services.
Located 45 miles south west of Washington, DC, Fauquier County Environmental Services provides seven safe, efficient, and environmentally friendly residential collection sites, transfer station, landfill, and recycling system for county residents and businesses.
Current part-time/full-time permanent staffing level is 70 with an annual operating budget of about $10 million and current CIP projects totaling approximately $2 million.
This is a 12 month Assistant Director role to provide support to the Director of Environmental Services with the goal of obtaining the knowledge and skills needed to assume the position of Director at the end of the 12 months.
Position will be responsible for planning, supervising, and coordinating the solid waste collection, recycling, litter control, and landfill division operations and staff; ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations; coordinating the preparation and maintenance of appropriate records.
Candidates should possess any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with major course work in civil engineering, environmental science or related field and 5-7 years of experience in the solid waste field with at least 4 years of experience in a supervisory capacity.
