Public Works Department Supervisor
The City of Montgomery is accepting applications for the position of Public Works Department Supervisor. This position requires strong organizational skills with attention to details, excellent leadership and team skills, and the desire to perform high quality work. Responsibilities include determining the number of and assigning employees to perform various maintenance and repair projects; maintaining department records; preparing letters, reports, purchase requisitions, memos, and other written documents; supervising maintenance of vehicles, buildings, equipment, tools and property; supervising the construction and installation of City signage; evaluating the purchase of equipment; ordering department supplies; reviewing requests for service and investigating complaints; evaluating the work of department employees; performing various types of maintenance work such as street repair, electrical work, and plowing snow; and coordinating activities of the Public Works Department with other City departments and contractors.
In addition, the successful candidate must possess mechanical aptitude, the ability to operate tools and equipment, and knowledge of traffic laws/safety rules. The successful candidate must also be able to respond to and supervise emergency situations during evenings and weekends. Experience operating backhoes, commercial mowers and snowplows is preferred. A valid driver’s license and high school diploma or G.E.D. are also required, with a CDL preferred. The candidate must satisfactorily pass a drug screen and physical exam. This is a salaried position with a pay range of $59,238.40 — $75,774.40. The application along with a cover letter must be received at Montgomery City Hall by 5PM June 1. EOE/ADA
