Salary: DOQ: $112,200 - $157,080. Anticipated starting pay is up to $123,500
The City of Geneva is seeking a collaborative and driven professional to join our team as the Assistant Director of Public Works. This position supervises a team of four employees responsible for Engineering and GIS functions and leading both short- and long-term department initiatives. In addition to the Engineering Division, the Public Works Department is comprised of more than sixty full-time and seasonal employees working in the Streets and Fleet, Electric, and Water and Wastewater Divisions.
As a member of the Department’s leadership team, this position plays a key role in budget development, collective bargaining, implementation of the City’s Strategic Plan, responds to resident inquiries, and represents the City to various workgroups. Under the general supervision of the Director of Public Works, the Assistant Director performs a variety of senior-level management duties including but not limited to; implementing and monitoring capital improvement plans, developing requests-for-proposals and identifying grant opportunities, overseeing the department’s safety and regulatory compliance programs and training, hiring, and managing staff.
Qualifications
Ideal candidates should possess a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in business, public administration, construction management, civil engineering, or a related field; and have five to seven years of progressively responsible experience in a Public Works setting or similar environment. Applicants should have a minimum of three years of supervisory experience as well as familiarity working with labor organizations, public utilities, and possess excellent communication skills.

After-hours meetings will be required on occasion. Pay is DOQ and the range for this position starts at $112,200 annually. Anticipated starting pay is up to $123,500.
