The City of Lockport, NY (pop 20,722) seeks a creative, team oriented professional to serve as Director of Public Works. Under the direction of the Mayor, this director oversees all operational and maintenance aspects of the community’s streets & roadways, water, wastewater, parks & grounds, and public facilities. Successful candidates have strong leadership, interpersonal skills, and maturity for this highly independent and responsible executive-level position providing administrative direction to the Public Works Department. Candidate will be expected to develop a clear vision of the public works challenges facing the City. BA/BS in public/business administration, engineering, construction management or related field required; a minimum of six years of progressive experience in a variety of projects including public works operations, utilities, capital project planning & supervision and general administration or an Associate’s degree and 8 years’ experience with an equivalent combination of training, education and experience. Experience in winter storm response and utilities operation and maintenance helpful; strong citizen service attitude is essential.
The ideal candidate will have strong budget & management skills, a team oriented leadership style and demonstrated enthusiasm and imagination in pursuit of creative solutions to meet public works challenges. Salary Range: $85,000-$108,484.
